Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has met with Iraqi Vice President Adil Abdul-Mahdi to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations, the Anatolia news agency reported on Tuesday.

Diplomatic sources said Davutoğlu and Abdul-Mahdi, who is in Ankara to have talks with Turkish authorities, discussed recent developments in Bahrain, Libya and Syria, about which Abdul-Mahdi agreed both countries have parallel assessment on the developments.

Turkey says it supports the advent of democracy in the region and urges Arab leaders to heed the demands of their people. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sharpened his tone recently, urging Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to step down immediately to end bloodshed and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to avoid using force that could split the country.
